in 1973, israel won the yom kippur war and lost the cold war against terror. on october 6, 1973, forces from egypt and syria attacked israel simultaneously on a national holiday with help from ten other countries. by october 25, less than three weeks later, israel had decimated the soviet-backed arab forces and the war ended in a ceasefire imposed by the united states and soviet union.

much like the second world war being a direct result of german humiliation in the previous war, the yom kippur war resulted from the crushing defeat in the six-day war. much like wwii germany, a nationalist pan-arab empire was attempting to annihilate its enemy, take its land and kill its people. unlike wwii germany, however, it didn\'t take six years of incompetence and idiocy before the arab empire was defeated.

the six-day war was another fight between israel, a tiny nation of a few million, and a huge segment of the arab world with its hundreds of millions of citizens. after years of egypt attempting to strangle israel\'s access to supplies, israeli forces spent six days demonstrating military superiority then promptly gave up before actually accomplishing anything useful for the future other than leaving embarrassment and hatred behind them.

for weeks before the outbreak of war with egypt, syria and jordan, israelis waited for an attack they knew was coming. they knew war was imminent and necessary against enemies who wanted the elimination of israel and extermination of all jews but they weren\'t willing to take the necessary steps to start fighting, even after years of tension and violence.

in 1967, though, israel finally stopped cowering behind its theoretical borders and defeated its much-larger enemy in less than a week. waiting three weeks was an error but at least prime minister levi eshkol made the decision to take the fight to the enemy instead of anticipating an attack in duck-and-cover mode. unlike what\'s happening today in israel thanks to the weakness and pandering of the netanyahu government and american failures.

in both 1967 and 1973, israel made the same mistake - allowing its enemies to continue to exist, living to fight another day. waiting three weeks was an error but at least prime minister levi eshkol made the decision to take the fight to the enemy instead of anticipating an attack in duck-and-cover mode. unlike what\'s happening today in israel thanks to the weakness and pandering of the netanyahu government and american failures.

in those two wars and at various other points in the last seventy-five years, israel has had clear opportunities to solve the problem of constant terrorism and military threats. the unconditional defeat of egypt, syria, lebanon and jordan followed by their occupation, modernization and secularization would have prevented the next fifty years of cold war between israel and the arab world. a war between 500 million and 10 million (today).

as the israeli government continues its nine-month delusion of a defensive war and issues warnings to citizens to brace for impact from the islamic republic, the answer is clear to everyone but the government. weakness and pandering to world opinion are not a solution to anything and have resulted in the decolonized state of israel being attacked continuously and progressively more brutally since it freed itself from occupation in 1948. the world must demand better.

to fix this problem is not a question of sending messages or decapitating organizations. it is about thoroughly eliminating enemy governments and militaries, both terrorist groups like hamas and hezbollah and national governments like the islamic republic, syria, egypt and lebanon. it is about annexing surrounding territory and imposing military occupation on defeated nations to force modernization, secularization and the elimination of israel\'s enemies much as japan was occupied and governed by the united states after the second world war. and it is about doing this by launching a first strike immediately against all enemies and continuing to fight at full strength until those enemies have unconditionally surrendered - starting with the islamic republic today.
